File Requirements

Platform:	Macintosh - System 10.4 and Macintosh 9.2.2
Transfer Mediums:	DVD, CD, e-mail, call for FTP information
Preferred Files Type:	PDF - CAUTION: ALL .pdf FILES ARE NOT THE SAME! High end "Print" ready ad PDFs must be created from a PostScript file through Acrobat Distiller. If you don't understand what this means, you probably will not be able to create a pdf that will reproduce properly once printed on a printing press. Please seek professional advice.
Acceptable Files Types:	Native Application Files InDesign - Preflighted and Packaged. Send complete package with fonts and linked images. Photoshop CS - Send to size as flattened .eps files in CMYK mode at 300 dpi. Illustrator CS - must be flattened, all colors must be CMYK and fonts must be outlined.
Unacceptable File Types:	Pagemaker, MS Word Docs, Word PDFs, Freehand, Corel, Publisher, & PDFs not meeting above specifications.
Image Requirements:	300 dpi .tif or .eps files saved in CMYK mode. Save .eps files with 8 bit preview. Save Black & White images in grayscale 8 bit mode. Images should be sent close to final output size. Disable all image color management profiles and LZW compression options.
Unacceptable Images:	.gif, Web or 72 dpi .jpg images not three times larger than final output size. Any Image off a Web page.
Color Management:	Turn off all color management options in documents and images - i.e. ICC, sRGB, etc. profiles
Font Requirements:	If possible, send your ad in a file format that embeds fonts or turns them into art. Macintosh Post Script 1 or 2 or Open Type fonts only. No PC or True Type fonts unless embedded. Both Screen and Printer fonts must be included. Send only necessary fonts.
File Names:	Please do not name your file ”Sailing Ad.” Name files using company name and the month and year it is to appear - i.e. “Smith Boat 0906” Do not include any of the follong characters in file names: /\*<>"\|&%#()@!^
