Erik Simonson is a San Francisco Bay area native who began sailing in 1978 at age 16 and became completely enamoured with its sense of freedom and beauty.

Erik began photographing sailing in earnest in 1987 and has covered everything from windsurfing and kiteboarding to America's Cup activities and major regattas, profiles and product imagery. His photos and writing have been used in marine oriented magazines worldwide.

He currently lives in the coastal town of Pacifica with his wife, two children and three golden retrievers. When he's not strapped to the computer, Erik can be seen buzzing about the Bay on his 20-foot red Zodiac Red Snapper.
