The people at W.D. Schock call the successful Harbor 20 the “classic, modern daysailer.” Easy and fun to sail, able to be sailed singlehanded or with a family, the Harbor 20 filled a void in the sailing market. Now W.D. Schock hopes to do the same with the Harbor 20’s big sister, the Harbor 25, while offering an interior big enough to actual cruise in.
The Harbor 25 has the same simple and classic look as the Harbor 20, but while its looks may be classic, there’s plenty of modern on this boat. The sailplan is generous but not difficult to manage. The large main is guided by lazyjacks and a jib boom keeps things simple on deck with the self-tacking, roller-furling jib. The 360 square feet of sail area will give it nice performance on and off the wind, and its modern underbodyfeaturing a swept-back bulb keelshould keep it on its feet.
The focus on the Harbor 20 was its cockpit and the 25 follows that pattern. Six people should be able to sit in the cockpit for a sail. Most of the on-deck storage is in the large aft lazarette.
After sailing to a favorite anchorage, Harbor 25 owners will be able to continue the fun on board. Belowdecks the boat is packed with four berths, a galley sink, an enclosed head, built-in ice chest and even main cabin seating. And if the happy cruisers should awake the next day to an ultra-calm morning, they can crank up the 12.5-horsepower saildrive with a folding propeller and make it home in no time.
