New boat: Delphia 37

Capable, comfortable, good-looking cruisers come in sizes perfect for almost any sailor, and the Delphia 37 taps into an under-represented area of the market. And while 37 feet will be easier to manage than a big cruiser, sailors don’t have to sacrifice on quality.

A spacious cockpit is the hub of this cruiser, and all control lines are led aft for convenience and safety. The teak cockpit floor and seats makes for a classy looking place to relax. When it’s time for a swim the bathing platform off the transom encompasses a swim ladder.

Similar high-quality touches are found belowdecks where light mahogany and an abundance of hatches and skylights creates a feeling of being in a much larger boat. The standard layout for the U.S. includes a large double-bunk cabin forward with another double cabin aft. A third cabin can be used for stowing sails, fenders and other bulky items. The galley features a two-burner stove and Corian countertops. Even tall sailors will like the 37, as the saloon offers 6 feet, 5 inches of head room.

A fractional, double-spreader rig supports a full-batten mainsail, roller-furling genoa and optional symmetrical spinnaker.

With all the amenities of a much larger boat, all starting around the $160,000 mark, the Delphia 37 is a lot of boat that’s sure to make plenty of cruisers happy.
